Today the Executive Branch of the US government is under a Continuing Resolution (CR) that expires March 4, 2010. There also is a needed increase in the borrowing authority of the US government by that date or it would be in technical default.
So with a month to go what do we know about the strategy of the WH and the Congressional Republicans. The WH strategy is simple! Continue the CR through the end of the year with the exception of the DOD appropriation bill be enacted into law. Also an increase in the debt limit. The Congressional Republicans strategy is also simple. No extension of the CR or incrase in debt limit without substantial cuts in the FY 2011 budget. So those are the negotiation starting points and lets see what happens.
