Australia–Hurricane Yasi

It turns out that Hurricane Yasi was truly a Category 4 Hurricane and the most powerful to hit Australia since 1918.

It will be interesting to see its impacts on Australian official policy and also public reaction to this huge event.

For some technical details go to:

Tom Birkland, PhD has written exensively on the reaction of policy makers to natural disasters. His conclusions are ably pictured in the many charts produced by Claire Rubin on her timeline series.

Recommend strongly reading Tom’s published work and studying Claire’s timelines.  Wondering wheather US scientists and policy makers will be studying the Australian impacts public and private of Hurricane Yasi.
