Reorganization of the Executive Branch

From Government Executive mag:

“The latest comprehensive plan for reorganizing the federal government — timed for release in the midst of a deficit crisis and low public regard for Washington’s competence — is an academic product that has won the blessing of former Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volcker and Sen. Mark Warner, D-Va.

“It’s time to stop tinkering with the small-scale things and embrace reforms to reshape government,” Paul Light, a professor of public policy at New York University, said at a Capitol Hill press conference. “The problem with government reform is not too many ideas, but rather the lack of a comprehensive package.”

The study, titled “Creating High-Performance Government: A Once-in-a-Generation Opportunity,” represents a year’s work by fellows at NYU’s Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service, financed by Volcker, a veteran of several government reform commissions, and the Robertson Foundation for Government.”

This high quality study should be read by all involved in Public Administration and political science.

It is time that the Executive  Branch organization be based on compartmentalization to assist in stalmating good governance and to assist the lobbyist that are destroying the USA.

Did you know a Reorganization Plan sits now on President Obama’s desk delivered on June 9th on reorganization of foreign trade organizations? Long overdue and probably will be signed off and made public as soon as Congress enters their August recess.
