Today’s WAPO has an article (to be followed by a TV show tonight on PBS) wherein Richard Clarke suggests that while he has NO evidence the CIA should have relayed its info on two of the hijackers to the FBI (as being inside the USA) and did not because they had tried to recruit them as informers. Clarke has not previously discussed this “surmise” and did not mention it when testifying before the 9/11 Commission. George Tenant then CIA Director has denied any such facts!
What I do know is that for 5 hours I briefed the 9/11 Commission Staff on the problems with information sharing in the Executive Branch and how the non-statutory need-to-know doctrine was manipulated by bureaucrats and appointees to protect their own status and positions.
The Clarke disclosure indicates that the truth about 9/11 is probably yet to be fully disclosed.
